The Poet – designed by Viennese artist Boicut using a new, generative design process – combines two ever-present states of mind in cycling: on the one hand, joyful exuberance. On the other, fragility. This interplay of emotions is reflected in the jersey’s playful, organic, yet strictly digitally generated lines and colors.

    • Unisex sizing, tight cut (we recommend sizing up one size)
    • Made from 100% recycled base material (recycled PET)
    • Three back pockets, one with a hidden zipper pocket
    • 40mm gripper tape at the jersey hem for perfect hold

What does this jersey mean to you?
Exploration and proof of concept. Over the past year I developed the foundation for a new body of work called “DISPLACEMENT”. After creating the first original works on canvas and paper, this jersey became the first artist edition product based on the series. I’m very happy with the result.

What’s the inspiration behind your design?

On the technical side, I was excited to test my new series on a product. Artistically, I wanted the design to feel both bold and fragile – reflecting my rides through the city.

What did you enjoy most in this design process – and what wasn’t so easy?

My new series is based on a closed, rule-based system. The design process happens within software not necessarily made for print and involves heavy CPU usage, especially at high resolutions. I spent days optimizing the system through trial and error, which could feel frustrating at times, but it was also crucial for future projects. Seeing the first images of the finished product made it all worth it.

What does cycling mean to you?

Autonomy, exploration, movement. Cycling gives my mind space to breathe, think and slow down at times, while at others it makes me feel alert, playful and fully alive. These states can shift within a single ride depending on the environment and rhythm of the city.

A specific cycling experience you want to share?

I used to take part in alleycats. One summer night, while racing to the next checkpoint, I was riding in a tight group of five through empty orange-lit streets. Approaching a T-junction, the green light started blinking and our lead rider suddenly slammed the brakes. Everyone crashed into each other. I looked up and saw a police car facing us. For a few surreal seconds nobody moved. The officers just stared at us while we froze in complete silence. Then one of them slowly shook his head and they drove off. A moment later we all burst out laughing. Nobody was hurt, and I still laugh about how absurd that scene must have looked from the police car’s perspective.

    FAQs
